Why I became a Chef
My mother instilled a love of cooking when I was only 14 years old. I was proficient enough at 16 to be hired for my first job cooking at a Hot Shoppes Restaurant. As an adult, I enjoyed growing my own vegetables and learned how to preserve them. Feeding my family became an adventure. I began culinary school in 2009, which moved my cooking skills from a home cook to a professional. I received my Certification as a Certified Culinarian from the American Culinary Federation in 2010. My wife and I moved to Myrtle Beach in 2012 where I worked as a chef in both the restaurant industry and assisted living facilities. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to prepare and cook great food for others and to see their smiling faces. Catering by Chef John was launched in August, 2019.
